Airway Heights US-2 Corridor Plan and Comprehensive Plan Update

SCJ has worked for the City of Airway Heights on multiple projects, including a US 2 corridor plan, a comprehensive plan update, and a public art strategy. Working with a number of agency partners, SCJ completed the corridor plan within budget and in time to inform budgeting decisions for the City, the City of Spokane, and the Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT). WSDOT followed up on this work with its next-generation corridor sketch plan to further explore land use development intensity and timing. The corridor plan provides a detailed look at the preferred roadway  design and land use mix for the three-mile length through the community. As its primary commercial arterial and historic main street, the corridor is tasked with serving multiple, and conflicting, needs. The corridor plan identifies six different corridor context areas, providing conceptual design guidance that has since informed the comprehensive plan update, the community’s new downtown plan, new commercial zoning regulations, and a new public art plan and strategy.
